NOTES ON THE NEW SOCIETY OF THE PHILIPPINES
by: Ferdinand Marcos
During the Martial Law regime, the President's Office issued a narrative of President Marcos.
Ferdinand E. Marcos, President of the Philippines, narrates the events that led to the declaration of martial law—and the creation of a new society—as a compelling necessity of national survival, with a cool objectivity that highlights rather than diminishes the incredibly painful drama behind his historic decision. This book provides valuable insights into the rationale for martial law and the New Society's governing principles.
President Marcos was making notes for a sequel to his first book. Today's Revolution: Democracy, because he had to make the hard decision that started what he calls the "September 21 Movement," deriving in these notes, indicating not a lack of vision but the tension on the country and the Presidency: the race for time.
Even as "notes," they have a sense of fulfillment, a logical consistency that extends from the chapter on the poor's rebellion to the final chapter on theory and practice in the New Society, which affirms their publication for the benefit of concerned citizens and interested observers of Philippine affairs.
About the book:
Accountable history of September 21 1972 when he signed the proclamation placing the entire Philippines under martial law.
